LET ME COME OVER [REVIEW]

Let Me Come Over sounds exactly like the cover artwork looks: a neon-drenched fever dream with grit and poise. The moody sophomore single from elusive songstress Mami (@itsmamibabyy) is an emotive affair, with engineering care of none other than Chunkyluv (@chunkyluvstudios).

Lyrically, Let Me Come Over is self-explanatory. Mami is doing her best to let you know she’s otw to yours, and she’s not coming to play Monopoly. The track begins with conviction, ‘Be honest baby, you wanna let me in’ with the singer becoming progressively more intent on getting her fix ‘everything you’re feeling right now, you can’t hide’.

Tonally, the track is a departure from Mami’s previous single. With chords only coming in during the hook and pre-chorus, the song is considerably darker than her previous work. Gentle harmonies build on the passionate vocal performance, filling up the sonic palette with aplomb.

The outro was a nice touch too. As Mami’s vocals float away after the final book, the bass and drums push on with a vengeance. The moody bassline feels like a cross-era Justice ode, and the drums add a punchy yet controlled backbone to the track.

This is the second Mami review I’ve done, and we’ve still not had confirmation of a forthcoming full length project. My patience can only go so far. Let’s make it happen, Mami.
